Press registration information
All news media journalists, science writers and public information officers should register as participants through the normal participant's registration system. This is in order to make sure your badge is ready for you upon arrival. Remember to tick off for Press.

Press representatives are eligible for waived registration fee. Eligibility for press registration must be substantiated through submission of the Press Registration Form with the required documentation.

STEP 2: Register. You can register through the registration system as a participant and then close the screen when the request for credit card details comes up.
Then email Mr Richard Hart in Elsevier with your name and registration ID: richard.hart@event-logistics.co.uk
STEP 3: When your registration is in and your application approved, you will get a confirmation email from Richard Hart in Elsevier.
The last day for advance press registration, assuring that your badge will be waiting for you when you arrive, is Tuesday, 1 June 2010. You may also register onsite.
The following groups qualify:
- Working journalists employed by bona fide news media should present (international) press card issued by the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) or one of its national member associations and a business card.
- Freelance science writers that can present a current membership card from NASW (National Association of Science Writers), Regional affiliate of NASW, CSWA (Canadian Science Writers' Association), SEJ (Society of Environmental Journalists) or the like.
- Journalists that can present evidence of by-lined work pertaining to science intended for the general public and published in 2009 or 2010.
- Journalists that can present a letter of introduction from the editor of a recognized publication, assigning them to cover IPY-OSC.
- Public information officers of scientific societies, educational institutions, and government agencies should present a business card.
Conditions:
Press registrants will receive a badge that provides full access to all the scientific sessions of IPY-OSC, as well as to the Press Room and Press Conference Room. No one will be admitted without a valid badge.
The Press Room will be centrally located on the conference venue and fully equipped with computers, printers and broadband internet access. Rooms suitable for studio are available. Stock photo service will be provided. Some sessions will be recorded and published as webcast.
We are planning to provide morning press briefings daily, together with afternoon popular science sessions. The Press Room will be staffed and the staff will be ready to provide guidance.
Pre conference registrations and accreditation is recommended. Onsite registration will be possible. Waived fee will be granted if the Press Registration Form is presented, together with the required documentation (see above).
Note:
Representatives of publishing houses, for-profit corporations, and the business side of news media must register at the main registration desk at the meeting and pay the appropriate fees, regardless of possession of any of the above documents. They are not accredited as Press at the meeting.
Scientists who are also reporters and who are presenting at this meeting (oral or poster session) may receive News Media credentials if they qualify (see above), but must also register for the meeting and pay the appropriate fee as a presenter.
