Early Career Scientist Programme

The IPY Oslo Science Conference has set a new precedent for the involvement of early career scientists and the activities available for young researchers to further their careers. Activities and support for early career scientists include a Professional Development workshop, a networking reception with senior mentors, awards for outstanding young researcher presentations, stipends and much more.

The early career programme is organised by the Asssociation of Early Career Polar Scientists (APECS), an international and interdisciplinary organisation for undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, early faculty members, educators and others with interests in Polar Regions and the wider cryosphere.NoneThe early career programme is organised by the Asssociation of Early Career Polar Scientists (APECS), an international and interdisciplinary organisation for undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, early faculty members, educators and others with interests in Polar Regions and the wider cryosphere.

More than 400 early career polar scientists have received the Oslo stipend. The conference stipend consists of ½ price registration, hostel-style accommodation, access to all conference events (icebreaker, receptions, Cinema, etc), lunches at the conference venue and local train transportation.

To be part of the Early Career Scientist Programme, the application deadline was 20th of January and it is now closed. The application was for those interested in applying for the Oslo Stipend, travel fellowships and the APECS Professional Development Workshop.
