T2-2 Troposphere and stratosphere dynamics and processes and their links with climate
Convener: Andreas Stohl, Norwegian Institute for Air Resaerch (ast@nilu.no'). Co-conveners: Andrew Klekociuk (andrew.klekociuk@aad.gov.au), Michael Town (michael.s.town@gmail.com), Jennifer Kay (jenkay@ucar.edu) and Gennadi Milinevsky (genmilinevsky@gmail.com).
We invite contributions from a wide field of disciplines of polar atmospheric research, including: 1. Description of the state of the polar troposphere and stratosphere, including its seasonal and inter-seasonal variability. 2. Dynamical, radiative and surface processes that influence the state of the polar troposphere and stratosphere. 3. Modes of variability, e.g., annular modes, ENSO, QBO. 4. Chemical composition of and chemical processes in the polar troposphere and stratosphere. 5. Water in the atmosphere: role in energy transport, cloud formation, precipitation, and water isotopes. 6. Current capabilities of weather forecast and climate models to describe the polar troposphere and stratosphere. 7. Interactions with the ocean and cryosphere, as important for the atmosphere.
